about
Back in 2006, or thereabouts, Anitra bought a motorcycle and was determined to ride it. We were living in Bushwick then. The streets were pot holed and bumpy. Brooklyn drivers are not known for their patience but for Anitra they stopped and gave her time to restart the motor or walk her bike off to the side. Anitra could hold up traffic, but the people smiled at her. And me, I loved to ride on the back, holding onto her hips. One time we bounced all the way down to Rockaway beach, and walked among the cottages. Summers in Brooklyn are muggy, but the bike makes its own wind. After a while Anitra got bored of that bike. One day she parked it out front of the building and the next morning it was gone, without a trace.
lyrics
Baby I wanna go for a ride
Can we go for a ride
It's far too hot to do anything
We gotta make a strong wind of our own
I'll hold you the way you like me to
With my arms at your sides
Rockaway is just a couple miles away
And you know how the sea makes us high
Let's go, I wanna go
Let's grind, let's ride
I wanna watch Brooklyn unfold
With a drunken mind
Honey I've got my helmet on
And the dishes are set to dry
I'm gonna wrap you up in leather robes
You're my sturdy mare of the road
Let's go, I wanna go
Let's grind, let's ride
I wanna watch Brooklyn unfold
With a drunken mind
